Creative Advocacy Network Exec. Director, Jessica Jarratt

Jessica Jarratt

Join us as we introduce you to Jessica Jarratt, a woman in charge of the ambitious initiative to establish and foster significant funding for the arts and artists in Portland to the tune of $15-20 million ANNUALLY. That initiative is called the Creative Action Plan, and it’s on its way to support Portland’s astounding, burgeoning, creative community. (And we mean YOU, the independently employed artist and creative!)

It was just last spring when the Creative Action Plan (“Act for Art”) for the Portland Metropolitan region – a bold region-wide vision for arts and culture – was formed, and the Creative Advocacy Network was formed.

PLEASE NOTE: Working Artists Network’s Founder, Adrienne Fritze, is part of CAN’s Steering Committee. THIS IS OUR OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE INFLUENCE OVER HOW PUBLIC MONIES ARE SPENT ESPECIALLY AS IT AFFECTS INDEPENDENTLY EMPLOYED ARTISTS. Please find time to attend this event to find out more, and more importantly, to be heard in terms of what solo-artists REALLY need to be successful.

    Hi,

I would really like to come to this workshop but am unable to make it on Sunday. Wondering if you might be offering it again at some point?

    Thanks.

    Jackie

Unfortunately, this is a one-time round table. However, the information that will be shared here will be rolled into an actual Business Planning workshop we have tentatively scheduled for April 17 or/and 18. I will keep you in the loop re: the dates and outline of that workshop if you’d like – just let me know. Also, the PDF of that information will be down-loadable (and Free) for WAN members.

Finally, if there is a way you would like to see artists get funding in ways that do not currently exist please let me know before Sunday so I can introduce new ideas to Jessica and the CAN Steering Committee on how we would like to see our businesses funded so they can grow. For example, maybe you’d like to see some of those public monies go into a revolving loan fund specifically created for self employed artists/creatives, or funding go into a Scholarship Fund for business studies to help artists become well trained business owners, or some other way you have always wished for but doesn’t exist. I’d love to have your ideas!!!

Thanks for commenting here Jackie – it will be good to see you sometime in the near future!!

Is it necessary to pre-register. I am 98 % sure I can make it, but… May I just show up?

Hello, This sounds so good! I get all your emails and keep meaning to set aside the money. Is it necessary to pre-register. I am 98 % sure I can make it, but… May I just show up?

  5. adrienne says:

Hi Elizabeth! Yes, you can come and register at the door. Please note that we only accept cash and credit or debit cards. And try to come before 2:30 so we can all be settled and ready to begin the conversation with our guests at 2:30 sharp! Hope to see you there!
